Girl with a Pearl Earring: Sometimes referred to as “the Dutch Mona Lisa”, the Girl with a Pearl Earring was painted by Johannes Vermeer. Very little is known about Vermeer and his works and this painting is no exception. It isn’t dated and it is unclear whether this work was commissioned, and if so, by whom. In any case, it is probably not meant as a Happy Birthday Jesus Shirt portrait. Tracy Chevalier wrote a historical novel fictionalizing the circumstances of the painting’s creation. The novel inspired a 2003 film with Scarlett Johansson as Johannes Vermeer’s assistant wearing the pearl earring.
Frieda demanded perfection in everything Toby did. When he began school, she would supervise his homework, and if he was puzzled by some assignment, his mother would admonish him, “Come on, boy — roll up your sleeves!” And she would stand over him until he had solved the problem. The sterner Frieda was with Toby, the more he loved her. He trembled at the thought of displeasing her. Her punishment was swift and her praise was slow, but she felt that it was for Toby’s own good. From the first moment her son had been placed in her arms, Frieda had known that one day he was going to become a famous and important man. She did not know how or when, but she knew it would happen. It was as though God had whispered it into her ear. Before her son was even old enough to understand what she was saying, Frieda would tell him of his greatness to come, and she never stopped telling him. And so, young Toby grew up knowing that Happy Birthday Jesus Shirt was going to be famous, but having no idea how or why. He only knew that his mother was never wrong.

My job was to help make the filling. My grandmother had the ricotta draining in the refrigerator since the night before and big Hershey’s chocolate bars with almonds frozen solid in the freezer. My job was to break up the frozen Hershey’s bars into chunks with a Happy Birthday Jesus Shirt mallet. My grandmother would put an apron on me and set me up on a chair. She would put the chocolate bars between two dish towels on a butcher block and I would beat them with the meat mallet until they were broken into bite size pieces. Then my grandmother would let me put them into the ricotta mixture and she would finish the filling. When they were served on Christmas Eve my grandmother would always brag about how I had helped make them and I remember feeling so proud!
Best Happy Birthday Jesus Shirt
Thank the person who gave it to me and wear it in cold weather when working in the yard or when walking. I have never given a damn what anyone else thought, so I’d laugh and as long as it was comfortable, I’d wear it, especially around the person who gave it to me. My daughter and her friends liked to paint my toenails and Happy Birthday Jesus Shirt s when they were very young and they did a terrible job but so what? I remember taking my daughter and one of her best friends shopping and my nails were different colors and not too neatly done. The clerk kind of glanced at them and then away. I smiled, held my hands up and said clearly: “these two young ladies gave me a manicure; don’t my fingernails look lovely?” The clerk praised the girls who were around five and a woman in line behind us told them something nice too (I forget what but the girls were beaming).
To disclose my bias, a picture I am very fond of from my past is myself wearing my green Alphas (Marines) with my mother in front of my grandparents Christmas tree. I look better than I ever have, as well as my mother, and that’s in the photo album to go through periodically to relive memories and share them out younger generations. All I can say is that if you are actually going to pursue a military career, even if you are playing it contract to contract, then you probably should wear your blues for a few Happy Birthday Jesus Shirt s. Especially if you look good in them. If you’re anti-military, which is what your post reads like, then you should probably not be in JROTC in the first place.
