In the 90s a senior chief and a distant relation had a title with the former Oba of Benin. One night the head priest from the Oba palace started doing juju in front of the chief’s palace in plain view of everyone. Next day the Chief was dead. Juju right? Actually no. He was also our family friend and patient. He was diabetic and hypertensive. Did not comply with treatment and preferred herbs. He died of a stroke. Sure the priest killed him. However not with juju, but scared him to death. When my father died, I was abroad. My aunties were already sharing his lands. I returned and was told by two different elderly people that my aunties were doing juju so that I will forget home. Don’t believe, did not work. Took all my dad’s properties back and disowned them. All stories you hear are always the same. “I know someone who saw” which later change to “I saw” Had a friend who was told about a man who touched someone with a ring from ijebu and the other man could not get off the floor. Years later he narrated the story again. This time he saw it happen.

The Capitol rebels are given very little reason for being on the Juneteenth Day Ancestors Free 1776 July 4th Black African T Shirts tee of the Tributes, and Effie Trinket in the books is given this same sort of treatment. No progression, no real reasoning. We’re just expected to believe in them as heroes, and overall it works. We have Finnick Odair, who was whored out to Capitol residents by President Snow, and Haymitch Abernathy, whose entire family was wiped out after he won his Hunger Games. By and large, all of the Tributes give the other rebels progression to latch onto themselves. But to look at the Capitol-based rebels in isolation, they’re rather underdone. Plutarch and Cinna are both shown to be strong allies, but why? What was the trigger for them to change from Capitol servants to freedom fighters? The love that we have for them (Cinna in particular) masks this when we read and watch them in action, but it’s an easy façade to break away from. I don’t like to call it laziness, but the Capitol rebels are paper-thin.

So let’s bring it all back to the Juneteenth Day Ancestors Free 1776 July 4th Black African T Shirts tee. Having moved to NYC only recently, my husband and I decided we would wait till I’ve worked a solid two years before starting our family. Why should I wait? Because let’s face it being pregnant whilst learning the ropes in a new environment might just be a double whammy. But thinking about when it does happen, I tend to ask myself hypo questions like “Would I continue to public speak and present with a bump? Would I bring my kid to work? Would I still get home to put them to bed at a decent hour? The answer is always Hell yea! You may now say “She’s saying that cause it hasn’t happened yet, wait till the no sleep and poop all day kicks in.” You might be right, but the wonderful thing is that the women of 2016 are doing more than this everyday and spreading the message on HOW we can manage all of it and still remain sane.

We lived in the Juneteenth Day Ancestors Free 1776 July 4th Black African T Shirts tee of river Thyle* in the town of Capsi*. My father, Harris Water had three younger brothers: Marcus, Maxwell and Jonathan. My mother, Viola had two daughters: Isabelle, my younger sister and I, Lily. We were all one family; a happy one. My aunts, my uncles and us. We lived together. My grandfather owned many acres of land, orchards and a huge bungalow. When he passed away, the lands and the bungalow were owned by my dad, as he was the most generous and responsible and my uncles got the orchards. Initially, they were envious and were fuming with wrath. But my father was too magnanimous to allow his brothers inside his property and bury the hatchet,

With all due respect to the Juneteenth Day Ancestors Free 1776 July 4th Black African T Shirts tee musings of the Duchess of Sussex, Indian media still deems it perfectly appropriate to show only female models for advertisements for products like dishwashing liquids, toilet cleaners, washing detergents, cooking aids, etc. This is despite the fact that we, as a people, have advanced much and in many households both men and women work and the work in the house is distributed equally with men helping out with the dishes or with the laundry. Most of these ads show the verbal exchange between two women discussing the merits and demerits of said product. Why can’t this verbal exchange be between a man and his wife, say? That seems more likely to happen too. But no! Women always have to be depicted this way. Living out their lives discussing the merits of detergents and comparing the level of damage they do to their tender skin. Either that, or be called a witch or a bitch or a Chudail or Bhadrakali if they dared to be strong and with a mind that knows how to think for itself.
